Jimmy Steinfeldt was born and raised in Minneapolis and moved to Los Angeles almost 20 years ago to become one of America’s and the world’s preeminent Rock & Roll Photographers. He’ll be coming back home and graciously appearing at the opening night reception of his show on June 3rd. 6-9PM. at the Jimmy Wilson Gallery in South West Minneapolis. Jimmy will greet gallery goers and answer questions about his prolific photography career. His one of a kind photograph of Prince, and his personal collection artist proofs of Rod Stewart, Keith Richards, Bob Dylan, Paul McCartney, Eric Clapton, The Who, Dolly Parton, Sheryl Crow, James Brown, Chuck Berry, and jazz great Cab Calloway will be on display and available for purchase. Steinfeldt will also be personally signing copies of his two acclaimed books Rock ‘N’ Roll Lens I & II.

Many of Jimmy’s pieces in the show were created in Minnesota at venues as diverse as First Avenue, The Target Center, St. Paul Civic Center, Met Center, Northrop Auditorium, and the Orpheum Theatre. Jimmy has also been a contributing photographer to the L.A. Times, Rolling Stone, SPIN, Playboy, and Time magazine. His photographs have appeared in record albums and CD’s from artists including: Red Hot Chili Peppers, John Denver, Miles Davis, Paul Westerberg, Dee Dee Ramone, The Replacements, Billy Ray Cyrus, Bob Mould, Aimee Mann, Robert Palmer, and Willie Nelson.

Jimmy’s work has been collected by the Smithsonian Institution and his books are included in the permanent collection of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Library and Archives. He has lectured on photography at San Diego State University, and The Museum of the San Fernando Valley. In addition Steinfeldt is an award winning songwriter, and a long standing member of the Screen Actors Guild.
